Hmmm. Well that was fun. Now what shall I make?
Actually, as luck would have it the Monthly Stitch Collective challenge for March is a 'pattern stash buster' - the catch is You, not me, get to decide what I make.
Pictured below are 3 patterns from my stash:
- Simplicity 9585 (circa 1981) - I thought the bodice would make an excellent base for an Edwardian blouse. Maybe it will work, maybe it won't.
- Simplicity 4762 men's waistcoat - my hubby said if I made him one, he'd wear it. You can't argue with that logic and I think I do owe him after he helped me bring home all the lovely sewing machines I bought last year - without which I couldn't join the Monthly Stitch after all.
- Simplicity 6667 - (circa 1975) I'm not really a dress person, but if an occasion arose that required a dress, think I'd wear this.
Ohh tough choice between unselfish husband sewing and the Simplicity 6667 dress - I think hubby sounds very deserving, I will vote for the vest :)

DeleteOh you're doing the monthly stitch challenge too! I would have to say Simplicity 6667 - I love the 1970s and this one would make a beautiful dress.

DeleteLiking Simplicity 9585, I reckon I can see it as a blouse too, but I think Simplicity 4762 wins. Making stuff for hubby is really rewarding. I've made two things for mine and felt so good after doing it. So the men's waistcoat gets my vote.

DeleteI'm not usually one for unselfish sewing - my boyfriend is owed a shirt from two Christmases ago - but I'm going to vote for the waistcoat. It looks like fun, and very dapper too! Plus, hubbies need the odd item to distract them from our growing stashes!

6667 is the cutest! The little black one is pretty.

ReplyDeleteNow for he vote, hubbies need to be sewn for. It must be theh vest. But, if you've never him, you will find out that he will want more. They love having clothes that fit and customized.

DeleteNow you bring it up, I am curious to the hubby's possible reaction. I hadn't even considered it, but if I start with one, will he want more? maybe even - super scary - proper clothes like business shirts and trousers. maybe a suit! oh dear, where might this harmless endeavor lead? we shall find out :)
